Journalist from Polatsk Gets a Verbal Warning from KGB
Yauhen Parchynski, founder of the website “Svabodny Region” covering public life events, was summoned “to a talk” to the local KGB.

“I was asked if I knew that journalist activity without accreditation is forbidden – especially journalist work for foreign mass media. The KGB man told me to be careful and to remember that there are articles for which every other independent journalist can be brought to justice. E.g., for discrediting the Republic of Belarus in publications, photo or video, or for insulting the President of Belarus. Also they made it clear that they knew about my activities during the silent summer protests” said Yauhen Parchynski.
Having read out several articles from the Criminal Code, the KGB man expressed his hopes that “it was their last meeting”.
